Typhoon Ravages Asia: Cross-border Trade Companies Urged to Adjust Shipping Arrangements Promptly

Attention

Due to the effects of the 13th typhoon (Bebinca) this year, the east coast harbor area is experiencing high winds, which is impacting the shipment of cargo out to sea.

Operations for loading and unloading empty and heavy containers will be suspended at important ports such as Ningbo Port and Shanghai Port.

The resumption time for these operations will be announced later.

Cross-border trade companies with upcoming cargoes are advised to properly arrange their schedules.

Shanghai Port

The Yangshan Port area (Shengdong, Guandong, Shangdong Terminals) and the outer harbor area (Pudong, Zhendong, Hudong, Mingdong Terminals) are scheduled to suspend empty container pick-up operations starting at 00:00 on September 15.

All pick-up operations will be suspended from 08:00 on September 15.

Yidong Terminal in the Wusong Port Area and Luodong Terminal in the Luoding Port Area are scheduled to suspend all inbound and outbound container operations from 08:00 on September 15, 2024. The resumption of operations will be announced at a later date.

Ningbo Zhoushan Port

Container terminals in the Ningbo Zhoushan Port area (including Beilun Container Terminal No. 1, Beilun Container Terminal No. 2, Beilun Container Terminal No. 3, etc.) are scheduled to suspend both empty and heavy-lift trucking operations starting at 20:00 on September 14.

The resumption of operations will be announced later.

The North of Vietnam

In addition, Typhoon “Yagi” struck a manufacturing town in northern Vietnam that focuses on exporting.

The typhoon caused widespread power outages and communication disruptions. Strong winds damaged factory facilities, leading to flooded warehouses and forcing factories to shut down.

It is expected to take a few weeks for operations to fully resume, which could impact the global supply chain.

Northern Vietnam is home to factories of many important multinational enterprises that produce goods exported to the United States, Europe, and other developed countries, making them a crucial part of the global supply chain.

The U.S. West Coast Ocean Freight rate has dropped significantly in the month.

If customers need to ship from Chinese ports, they need to seize the opportunity as soon as possible to avoid missing the good shipping line. Please let us know freely if you need any assistance.
